Differentiating Learning at Home to Meet the Needs of All Families:
North District School 鶹 staff will continue to support a variety of forms of remote learning including online learning, phone connections, assignments submitted by email, off-line tasks and more. In doing so, we recognize that the opportunities for learning at home vary greatly and we will work with families to differentiate instruction so that it may be accessed flexibly and conveniently. Families that need to use board-provided technology to access remote learning are asked to complete theto communicate technology needs. Families that have devices for their students are not required to complete the survey.
Given that access to technology and internet connectivity remains an obstacle for many families across our region, our educators will continue to differentiate learning processes and materials to ensure that all students may continue to learn at home.
TVO Learn:
The Ministry of Education recently announced the launch of two new portals, and , apprendre à la maison, which provide supports for students learning remotely by accessing additional educational resources developed by Ontario certified teachers. In addition, secondary students can continue to access TVO’s and Portes ouvertes pour les cours TVO ILC in French language, which provide access to 144 Grade 9 to 12 courses. These ILC resources are designed to provide flexible learning opportunities to help students keep up with their learning or deepen their understanding of a specific subject.
From the site, access engaging resources and activities to get your child learning now. Use these resources on their own or as a supplement to existing learning at school, online, or at home. Learning Activities are comprehensive and require guided instruction from an adult, while Resources for Learning, apply the Learning prompts and Vocabulary lists work well to reinforce specific skills or to enable independent exploration of a subject.
